die cast chassis, the RDX radios hold up under demanding
conditions. They also meet
Military 810 C, D, E and F as well as
IP54/55 specifications for shock, rain, humidity, salt fog,
vibration, sand/dust, shock, plus high and low temperature.
These models operate on frequencies reserved for businesses, and
support 122 private line codes (83 digital) per frequency that
eliminate interference from other work groups on the same
frequency.
Audio clarity and loudness is the better than all other
generations (Spirit, S-, M-, XTN-series).
The Motorola RDX series is compatible with all Motorola XTN, CLS
and Spirit professional two way radios. Some users of XTN series
VHF radios may need to change frequencies to be compatible with
RDX series radios.

IP54/55 Standard
In addition, RDX radios are tested to IP54/55 standards - highly
demanding tests for water and dust resistance. The IP54/55 tests
include subjecting the radio to a high-speed, high-volume shower
from all directions for three minutes. In this test, the radio
must endure conditions so harsh that a human being could not
survive them.
